Yandaro washing station sits in the Kayanza province, close to the border with Rwanda, in a corridor shared by both countries that produces some of East Africa's most exciting coffees. The station serves 2,341 smallholder farmers across 22 surrounding hills, processing over 1,200 metric tons of coffee each harvest season.
Nestled in the valley where the Yandaro river runs, the station draws its name from the very waterway that flows beside it. The proximity to the Kibira Rainforest helps maintain groundwater reserves and rich soil nutrition — a quiet but powerful force behind the quality in every cup.
The farmers here are at the heart of everything. Most tend fewer than 300 trees in their backyards, harvesting almost entirely by hand with their families. Greenco supports them year-round — providing seedlings, organic fertilizer, and training in sustainable farming — while also championing youth employment and gender equality across the region. Every purchase of this IMPACT Verified coffee backs the Livestock for Living Income project, helping farming families in Burundi build resilience and grow their incomes.
Red Bourbon cherries are selectively hand-picked during the March to July harvest and fully washed, undergoing careful floating, hand-sorting, pulping, and fermentation before drying slowly on raised tables for two to three weeks.
In the cup, expect a rich and warming coffee with bright blood
