Dumerso sits high in the hills of Yirgacheffe, at over 1,960 meters above sea level, in one of the most celebrated coffee regions in the world. Here, coffee is a way of life: it accounts for more than 90% of local family income, and the community's care for every harvest shows in the cup. Smallholders tend small plots of 0.5 to 5 hectares, growing local landraces and JARC varieties, mostly by traditional methods and without chemical fertilizers or pesticides.

Each cherry is selectively handpicked at peak ripeness and delivered to the Dumerso washing station, owned and run by sisters Mahder and Hirut Berhanu. With over 20 years of experience in coffee production, they reopened the station in 2013 and have been producing value-added coffees ever since. At intake, the cherry is carefully inspected and laid out on raised beds to dry in the sun. Workers rake it frequently for even drying and cover it during the hottest part of the day and overnight to protect it from condensation. After 14 to 21 days of slow, patient drying, the coffee is ready.

In the cup, Dumerso is fruit-forward and sweet. Roasted for espresso, expect bright bergamot citrus, delicate lavender florals, and a juicy apricot sweetness that rounds out the finish. A vibrant, expressive taste of Yirgacheffe.
