Fazenda Bioma takes its name from the Portuguese word for "biome," a fitting choice for a farm built around the idea that great coffee and a healthy ecosystem should grow side by side. The farm sits in Campos Altos, in Cerrado Mineiro, the first coffee-growing region in Brazil to earn a Designation of Origin, in the northwest of Minas Gerais. It's the creation of Flávio Márcio and Marcelo Nogueira, two agribusiness entrepreneurs who grew up in families of rural producers and share a deep commitment to producing top-quality coffee while implementing sustainable agricultural practices. Across their plots they grow Arara, Paraíso, and Catucaí, working to maintain an ideal balance of soil nutrients so the farm depends less on chemical inputs. This lot is Paraíso, a variety developed by EPAMIG and released in 2012 as a hybrid of Yellow Catuai and Timor, prized for its strong disease resistance and high cup quality.

Sustainability at Fazenda Bioma runs through every part of the farm, not just the coffee rows. Cover crops are planted between the coffee to protect and enrich the soil, while Flávio and Marcelo make their own fertiliser from processing byproducts and other organic material, cutting waste and building healthier soil over time. Avocado trees have been introduced to prevent erosion, retain nutrients, and give the farm a second income stream, and 63% of the land is preserved as protected natural area. Harvest and processing both stay on-site: cherry is picked at peak ripeness and carefully dried in the sun or in greenhouses, with moisture levels monitored closely before milling and export. It's a meticulous, hands-on approach that has earned real recognition, with Bioma Café ranking consistently among the best in regional and national competitions since 2016, including a 1st place finish in the Cup of Excellence Experimental category.

That same philosophy of care extends beyond the land to the people who work it. Every decision, from the fertilizer they make themselves to the land they choose to leave wild, reflects a belief that a farm's long-term success is inseparable from the wellbeing of its community and the health of the ground beneath it. It's a friendship-turned-business built on the idea that quality coffee and genuine environmental stewardship aren't a trade-off, but two sides of the same commitment.

Roasted for espresso, Fazenda Bioma's Paraíso delivers the sweet, clean, and complex character the region is known for in a fuller, more concentrated form. Expect a rounded, syrupy body, notes of blood orange and walnut, and a finish that settles into rich chocolate, a cup equally satisfying on its own or paired with milk.
