Tucked between the Aberdare Range and the foothills of Mount Kenya, Nyeri is one of Kenya’s most distinguished coffee-producing regions. Fertile volcanic soils, high elevations, and cool temperatures slow down cherry maturation—developing the vibrant acidity and crisp clarity that define this region’s finest lots.

This coffee comes from the Tambaya Factory, where smallholder farmers—each cultivating less than a hectare—grow a mix of SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11, and Batian. These cultivars are known for their drought and disease resistance, as well as their ability to thrive in high-altitude environments. Farming here is rooted in tradition and carried out with an emphasis on sustainability and environmental care.

Cherries are handpicked for ripeness, then undergo a meticulous post-harvest process: fermentation for 12–24 hours, followed by a 16-hour soak to enhance complexity and mouthfeel. The parchment is then dried slowly on raised beds over the course of two weeks, carefully turned to ensure even drying and preserve cup quality.

In the cup, expect an electrifying profile: zesty lime, juicy grapefruit, and the tart sweetness of green apple, all supported by a crisp, clean finish and silky body.

We work with our partners at Sucafina Kenya, who collaborate with thousands of smallholder producers across the country. Together, we’re helping ensure traceability, fair value, and long-term sustainability across the supply chain.

A standout washed Kenyan—bright, refreshing, and full of energy.
