The Journey
This project began around five years ago with the idea of sustainably shipping coffee while feeling closer to the communities we buy from. The coffee industry is a global trade, and we can often feel disconnected from the journey from farm to shop. Our collaboration with New Dawn Traders allowed us to be part of the journey from Colombia to Ireland. Junior roaster Grace joined the team on the final seven-day leg aboard the Grayhound vessel from Falmouth in Cornwall to Dublin.
About Cofinet
Cofinet, our coffee supplier, has a strong connection to direct trade. Founders Carlos and Felipe Arcilla grew up farming. After Carlos finished his studies in the UK and moved to Australia, he saw a demand for direct coffee there and called his brother to start Cofinet. Their father, Jairo Arcilla, produces the decaf we received off the ship, while this amazing Castillo is produced by their mother, Luz Helena, who learned the coffee trade after marrying Jairo. Carlos says Luz Helena now knows more about coffee growing and agronomy than the whole family.
The Coffee
This Castillo from Maracay is a wonderfully complex espresso with a lovely caramel-like sweet taste. It's exciting for black coffee drinkers and those who enjoy milky coffee—a true crowd-pleaser.
Farmhand Vacuum Sealed Canister
Our canister, in a monochromatic creamy color, complements any decorative style. It comes in a 750ml volume and is designed to keep moisture out and prevent coffee oxidation. The mechanism works through a spring-loaded piston that, when pressed a few times, sucks the air out, creating a tight seal.
Our aim is for you to connect with your local community and find our amazing stockists who will welcome a refill option from their shelf.
